¡VAMOS! Leeds 5 in Millennium Square
¡VAMOS! Leeds Festival returned to Millennium Square as part of Leeds City Council’s ‘Summer Series’ on Sunday 21 July.
¡VAMOS! as one of the UK’s biggest and longest running community arts festivals covering Spanish and Portuguese speaking cultures is now in its fifth year in Leeds!
Curated by DJ Lubi (Calle Ocho/Soul Rebels/¡VAMOS! Leeds) it featured a diverse programme of colourful live music acts, dance workshops and performances, family friendly activity and sumptuous Latin American street food and drinks!
¡VAMOS! Leeds is supported with funding from Arts Council England, Leeds Inspired, part of Leeds City Council, Instituto Cervantes and Pura Panela.

Ortiga
On the day we are thrilled to welcome international music act…
Ortiga from Spain… As one half of Spanish hit act, ‘Esteban & Manuel’- this new solo project combining pop, cumbia, salsa and electronic Merengue is made for the dancefloor!
Plus Son Yambu – with authentic Cuban Son and Salsa vibes via London!
7 hours of entertainment
Alongside headliners Son Yambu and Ortiga we also had jam packed support from:
Mestiza – with Andean and traditional Latin American compositions
Samba Duo – with a nod to the Baile Funk style
Sueli Gil Band – with sun-kissed Brazilian Bossa Nova
Ella Mesma Company – with a brand new youth dance project and performance ’The Masks We Wear’
Leeds Samba – with authentic Brazilian Samba and carnival drumming
Dance Emporium Salsa – a group performance from new Salseros!
And not forgetting the best Latin DJs in the North with DJ Fabio, Lubi and Chris Welch – spinning the tunes between all the acts throughout the day!
Plus a diverse selection of Latin American street food stalls and fully licensed bars.
